i love seeing others reading lists, it's how i find all my books these days, I've already hopped across to my library website and put some of these on hold.
I devoured Emily Henry's books this year. Other great fiction books I enjoyed were Lessons in Chemistry and All Rhodes Lead Here. Non-fiction wise, I found Breath by James Nestor fascinating, as well as Jini Teddy's Wanderland.
I love a book list - thank you! I think my favourite fiction book for this year is The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. It's a lovely whimsical answer to that question of lives not lived and what could have been if we'd only made different decisions. As for non-fiction, I have a couple - Eat Like the Animals by David Raubenheimer and Stephen J Simpson is brilliant science writing about what guides our appetites, and Beyond the Sky and Earth by Jamie Zeppa (which is an old book that I picked up off my sister-in-law's shelf) is an engrossing memoir of a young Canadian woman's experience teaching English in Bhutan in the 1980s.
I loved The Salt Path too! The Wild Silence wasn't as good imho and Landlines was a bit slow to start with but I'm really enjoying it now. Although it doesn't inspire me to hike through the Scottish bog!😂
thanks for your feedback, michelle. i've been waiting for The Wild Silence. nope, all that really bare bones trekking is too much for me. i am at my happiest as an armchair adventure reader.
This is the year I fell back in love with reading too! Although it’s not so much that I fell out of love, more that having children seems to have impacted on my attention span. My step-mum lent me the Midnight Library by Matt Haig and I didn’t expect much from it but loved it, I then went after anything of his I could find, then the Richard Osman books and now i’m on book 13 of the Dr Ruth Galloway books by Elly Griffiths.
When I was younger I was all about the classic and books with meaning but now I’m just happy with a good story. I also love other people’s reading lists - I’ll definitely be checking out some from your list.

Mrs. Dalloway, by Virginia Woolf, was my favorite novel in college.
Great list, have already checked my library for a few of them.
I'm currently reading Landlines by Raynor Winn and I picked up a copy of Mrs England at a charity shop last week so that will be my next read.
oooh, a new book by raynor winn! how is it? i loved the salt path.

Love the Dr Ruth series! Have you read Elly Griffiths Harbinder Singh series? Also enjoyed The Thursday Murder Club series.
You might enjoy the Alexandra Cupidi series by William Shaw.
Thanks for the recommendations - I’ll have to check that out. I’ve just started one by Ann Cleeve and I’m straight into it!
Is Harbinder in the Stranger diaries? I read that and loved it too. I’m hoping EG makes a whole series out of her 😊
