I love this! As someone who has followed you for years it is so inspiring to see how you have turned your passion into a role you can do full time. I am super pleased for you... it is also such a breath of fresh to see someone succeed without having to constantly post on social media incessantly. I am just about to go look at your paid subscription now...

Thanks for these tips Molly, I am relentlessly pursuing a slower life this year as I come back from more sickness & my body showing (let’s make that screaming) me I need to s.l.o.w right down - I always appreciate your words & videos.

Thank you so very much for this gift Molly. Since finding your content over 6 months ago you have joined my favourite mindful content creators.

I love your tips and your approach at ethical work, your honesty. I am a work in progress when it comes to slow living as well as slow consumption. Consequently, I actually love and prefer less content with higher quality because it also demands time to consume and even with a few content creators it can become quite overwhelming to support and honestly follow the creators that I love whilst also practicing my slow life and the inspirations, ideas I get from you, from them.

Aw that's so sweet thank you! Yes I'm the same and prefer to follow a small number of creators that I really connect with :)

Some great tips here, thank you!

Switching off phone notifications is indeed a game changer, I think of it as deciding when to go to my phone, rather than it coming to me. 👏👏👏

This is a great reminder that it's all about quality rather than quantity. I'm steadily trying to align my work to suit me and I've made some good progress over the past few months. Still a way to go. Thank you for sharing and inspiring me, Molly!

I love this, especially scheduling in free time. When you’re self employed it’s so easy to get carried away and work too much, eventually burning out. Great tips!

Thank you for all the inspiring information and practical tips. I am slowly coming out from the holiday buzz and family time to return to my new business adventure. It is easy to get caught up in the "go, go, go" mentality that praises the hustle culture. At 51, this isn't the energy I want to cultivate. Creating from a place of joy and calm is where I would rather be. It is encouraging to see where your path and growth has led. I love the resources and links. Learning Notion is top of the list.

Love this, Molly! It's refreshing to see someone thrive by working smarter, not harder. Curious, how do you balance creating content that's both engaging and true to your values, especially when working with brands? 🌿✨

author

Thank you! It can be a tricky balance, but I know its most important to keep to my values and that's why I only work with brands that I 100% support. I probably turn down 80-90% of brands that approach me so I'm very selective! :)

Wow, that's a high bar! How did you approach your first brand? Or did they approach you?

The majority have approached me. But it helps to have a media pack with all my brand info & stats that I can send brands to see if we are the right fit :)

Great post, Molly! I work as a virtual assistant in my day job and have used some of your tips with my entrepreneur clients, but I learned a few others in your post that I'm sure will come in handy. Also, I bought your Notion template for blogging and am loving it!

Wonderful content and tips, thank you. I love that you quit Instagram, etc al. But don't you benefit from having that Instagram followers base? Could you have just started out on Substack with no pre-fan base? Is that possible?

author

Thank you! Yes, absolutely you can grow on Substack without an existing audience. Although I got an initial boost from Insta (surprisingly few converted...), most of my growth now comes from Substack itself e.g., recommendations and shares on Notes. So defo possible! :)
