My morning ritual never changes.. I rise every day at 6am, drink a glass of warm ginger tea, let out my chickens, check my little flock of sheep and walk the dog.... in that order! When all of that is done I drink a cup of tea (always tea) eat breakfast, check emails and messages and dress for the day, whether that is a day in class or at home... !!
My husband and I both get up at 5:00 - his job starts early and I can't sleep without him.
He brings me coffee in bed and I go through my planning routine - planning for the next day (on Monday I make a plan for Tuesday). I spend 1 hour online, then boot up my Freedom app so I'm not disturbed all day. Then I meditate and get going with the day!
One facet of my morning routine that I can’t live without is reading my book over my breakfast and morning tea. I will let everything else slide just to have those first few moments in a fictional world!
Will you be doing an ‘evening routine’ YouTube? I just wonder what sort of time you would go to bed. I tend to be an 8am-10pm person and wonder if I should change it, because I’m very much a morning person 😍
My morning routine is: up at 0630 to feed the dog and make a mug of tea and coffee to take back to bed to enjoy with my wife. Turning on my "play laptop" to view emails, news and hobby stuff before tuning into me work side to remind myself of the day ahead - then walk the dog about 8-815. Works for us...
I love the idea of a morning routine! It implies that the world is somewhat predictable, even if not entirely so, and tells me that even if my equanimity may be challenged or even shattered at some point later, I can experience some calm, and perhaps even serene, time most days. Thank you for this!
My husband and I work part time and overlapping days so we have a song about who’s turn it is for coffee, it goes “Monday Tuesday you, Thursday Friday me, Wednesday can be flexible, Saturday you, Sunday me” 🤪
I don't really have a routine, just things I prefer to do. So, each morning is different: sometimes I read, sometimes I journal, sometimes I knit while waiting for laundry, I try to get outside most days, occasionally I just sleep in because I had a bad night's sleep. But, it all comes down to talking things slow, being intentional, and giving myself some space before I have to logon for work. I used to try to make myself have a more defined routine, but I'm a "in the mood" kind of person, versus a "follow the list" kind of person. Giving myself time in the morning helps me to feel like I started the day with freedom and control over how I use my own time.
Thanks for sharing your morning routine. My morning routine is all about connecting within and setting my day with intention. It takes place on my prepared yoga mat. I place my meditation cushion front and center along with a candle, incense, essential oil and a flower essence I’m working with. Next to my mat I have a red journal and colored pens for journaling. Most mornings I pull tarot cards to inspire my writing. I love a bit with simple yoga poses, breathe, and meditate. I end my practice in my journal with a simple intention that I speak aloud as I greet the sun and day. It has taken years of adjusting my routine and it still changes with the seasons and the amount of time I have. Now that my kids have grown I have increased my time on my mat. What a treat.
I have to get up by 7, 8 at the latest. Stretching and meditation are HUGE to get my mind, physiology and physical body right. Getting fully present and feeling me before I sit down to write is crucial to getting honest and genuine work on the page.
This has inspired me to attempt to create a morning routine ( difficult at times as I work part time nights (two nights a week)) but I am going to try.
I will start small and see how I get on, reading a book with my morning cup of tea sounds perfect 🥰

What a wonderful routine! I'm very envious of all your lovely animals :)
Tea, there is just tea! After that I can take on anything the day wants to throw at me. xx
Well of course!

Yes, very much up for doing an evening routine at some point! :)
