'Nature had taught me to let go of my preconceptions and look again', I love that. I'm an ecologist who is terrified of came toads so I completely know how you feel!
Oh my goodness! The early part of your moth story sounds like a traumatic experience. I'm glad it helped change your mind though. Although I like moths now, I had that terrible fear as a child and would hide under the bedclothes if there was one in my bedroom. Now I catch them in my hands to put them outside. Isn't it funny how our perceptions can change like that?
What a beautiful piece of writing again Molly. My grandchildren were terrified of spiders in the garden until I started giving them names and making up little stories about how they would help us in the garden and then go home for tea with their families!
This is so lovely! On a smaller scale I relate to becoming obsessed with moths. Well, one type. I've spotted Cinnabar moths in my garden and they absolutely delight me! When I read up online about them I was fascinated. I even drew one :)
I used to be afraid of Daddy Long Legs as a child as there were so many of them in our home, they would even be on the staircase! These days I look for them, in spite of having a wild garden I have noticed that come late summer early autumn there are not as many as there used to be. I did enjoy reading your story Molly and so glad you find moths fascinating now!
Me too! Like Molly and the moths, Daddy Long legs are too unpredictable. And they often look like they are dead. I think I need to learn more about them.
I have been on the look out for the Daddy Long legs and there were just a few that flew into the house, but still not that many about! Hope you see some that are alive and well, even though with these cold nights I am not sure they will be about now.

Love hearing from a fellow ecologist! :)

Oh I love that, what a wonderful idea! :)
Nature teaches us so much. Loved your moth story.
Thank you lovely :)
I love this! As I read, a moth (I think!) actually bumped up against my window!
Aw well that is perfect timing! :)

I will keep my eyes peeled for daddy long legs! :)

I’ll keep looking but it’s getting cold in Scotland.
I am petrified of snakes😵💫
