This is exactly how I feel and it’s only my first day here! I may leave Instagram as well. It’s so different from the cute little platform I started on in 2014.

After a few weeks on Substack I feel reassured of the integrity of this platform ! The connection with other like minds has been powerful and refreshing. I have been using instagram for a few years now as it seems to have been helpful to me as a visual artist- but I question why I think it's essential too ? I wonder about the draw of creating numbers of followers as opposed to cultivation of more meaningful contacts. I have experienced the pressures to maintain visibility- and constantly post . I can see myself migrating to this platform as thus far I have noticed that readers are actually interacting in a way that other platforms do not foster. I follow you on Youtube as well and enjoy your videos -particularly after visiting the beautiful Highlands last year ! Seeking more authentic connections and learning from others is certainly more of a gratifying experience here. Cheers!

I can definitely resonate with the apprehension about Notes. All the fears around Instagram and the reasons why I left resurfaced. Like you, I've found it to be nothing like "traditional" social media and I'm really embracing the more instant interactive element that it provides. A real sense of community that's supportive, encouraging and positive.

I’ve watched you over on YouTube so it’s great to find you on here too. I’m not ready to completely leave Instagram yet, I love the gardening community over there but I’m definitely enjoying finding my way over here x

A Substack newbie over here, but resonating fully with everything you've said. Just wrestling with how to align my existing mail list (all to do with coaching and mentoring) with my Substack list (which is about so much more)...I'll work it out! The main thing I'm getting from this platform is creativity - hurrah!x

I feel like Substack is everything that Instagram used to be when I first joined. A place to follow writing, photography and art and wonderful creators. Substack now enhances my life and creativity. And I love its simplicity too.

Oh my goodness, I've watched some of your YouTube videos and love your channel! I didn't put two and two together until reading this that you're the same person. 😂

I love that you've decided to focus in on Substack more. I agree that it's such a wonderful platform. I miss the simpler days of Instagram where it was more photo focused, so I wouldn't be surprised if I delete mine down the line too.

I really enjoy writing here on Substack 📝 I haven’t gotten rid of my other forms of social media yet but I feel like Twitter is next on the chopping block. It is just so negative!

Lovely piece and appreciate your honestly! Sometimes we engage in chasing a golden goose that just isn’t the one for us... I ADORE it here on Substack - I’ve been here a year and have encouraged lots of folks over too.

The biggest reason I’ve gone all in is because I quickly noticed the positive impact on my wellbeing by just being here.

I still “pop up” other places but the depth for me is here, the relationships are here and I’m so so grateful we are invited to help shape and build it too.
